A Contemporary Children Story - Story
In a small suburban neighborhood, a young mother named Sarah found herself overwhelmed. With two children under five, the chaos of toys strewn across the living room floor and the endless chorus of “Mommy, watch this!” was both a source of joy and a challenge to her faith. Sarah often felt like she was drowning in a sea of distraction, longing for clarity and wisdom amidst the noise.
One evening, after a particularly chaotic day, she sat down on the couch, her heart heavy. As she opened her Bible, her eyes fell on Galatians 5:22-23, which speaks of the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Each fruit seemed like a lifebuoy thrown her way, offering hope and direction.
That night, she prayed for wisdom and strength. The next day, she decided to approach her children’s antics with a new perspective. Instead of feeling frustrated when they spilled juice or argued over toys, she began to see those moments as opportunities for teaching patience and kindness.
One afternoon, as her son threw a tantrum over a toy, instead of reacting in frustration, she knelt down to his level, took a deep breath, and whispered, “Let’s breathe together. Can we find a way to share? Sharing is a sign of love.”
