A Story of Humility - Story
One quiet morning, I took a walk in a nearby park, the sun just beginning its ascent, casting golden hues over the dew-kissed grass. As I strolled, I noticed an elderly man sitting alone on a bench, deep in thought. His weathered hands rested on a cane, and there was a gentleness in his gaze as he watched the world awaken around him.
Curiosity drew me closer, and I asked him what he was contemplating. With a soft smile, he replied, "I’ve lived many years, my friend, and learned a few things along the way. Life’s journey has taught me that humility is the soil where faith takes root." Intrigued, I listened as he shared his testimony.
He spoke of days filled with triumph and days shadowed by failure. He recounted a time when he was a successful businessman, commanding respect and admiration. Yet, in the midst of that success, he felt an emptiness—a hollowness that success couldn’t fill. It was only when he humbled himself, acknowledging that he didn’t have all the answers, that he truly encountered The Way, The Truth, and The Life (John 14:6).
His words lingered in my spirit: humility opens the door for God's guidance and deepens our understanding of our identity in Him. That moment in the park reminded me that the path to spiritual growth often begins with a simple, profound act—admitting we don’t know it all and being willing to lean into the One who does. As you reflect on your own journey today, consider: Is there a place in your life where humility could lead to deeper faith?
