A Story of Love - Story
Just last summer, I sat on a weathered bench overlooking a meandering river, the sun casting dappled shadows through the leaves above. Nearby, a young couple engaged in a lively conversation, their laughter mingling with the gentle rush of water. As I listened, I couldn’t help but be reminded of the essence of love described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
Love, as Paul writes, is patient and kind. This couple, while playfully teasing each other, demonstrated an understanding deeper than mere words. Their eyes sparkled with a shared purpose; each joke was a thread woven tighter into the fabric of their relationship. It was as if they were saying, “We’re here together, navigating life’s currents, side by side.”
But then, something remarkable happened. A small child nearby dropped her ice cream, and it splattered across the ground. The couple exchanged glances, immediately rising to help. They knelt beside the child, offering not just a napkin, but a comforting presence, reminding her that accidents happen and that love is there to mend our little wounds.
In that moment, I was struck by how love guides us beyond our own desires. It opens our hearts and attunes our spirits to the needs of others. When we embrace this divine love—agape, unselfish and unconditional—our faith blossoms and we discover our true purpose. Just as this couple exemplified, we, too, are called to be conduits of love, offering hope and guidance in a world often filled with uncertainty. In love, we find our greatest calling.
