A Story of Mercy - Biblical Analogy
In a small town, there lived a gardener named Ruth who had a passion for nurturing her plants. Every spring, she would toil in her garden, preparing the soil, planting seeds, and watering them daily. Yet, one year, an unexpected drought struck. The parched earth cracked beneath the relentless sun, and Ruth watched in despair as her beloved plants began to wither.
One evening, as she knelt beside her garden, feeling overwhelmed, she recalled the words of Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God." With a deep breath, she set her tools aside and closed her eyes. In that moment of stillness, she felt a gentle urging—a whisper of mercy reminding her to trust in the unseen growth taking place beneath the surface.
Ruth decided to practice obedience, not by working harder, but by pausing to listen. She began to pray over her garden, asking for guidance and purpose. Days turned into weeks, and while the drought continued, Ruth remained in a state of expectant hope. Then one morning, she noticed tiny green shoots breaking through the soil, defiantly stretching toward the sun.
Ruth realized that in those moments of stillness, she had allowed her faith to nurture her garden, even in the midst of difficulty. Just as she had experienced growth in her garden, we, too, can find mercy in times of struggle. When we surrender our striving and embrace stillness, we open ourselves to the divine growth that God is orchestrating in our lives. With each act of obedience, we can trust that He is cultivating something beautiful within us, even when we cannot yet see it.
