O God, make speed to save me; O Lord, make haste to help me. This verse has been chosen, not undeservedly, out of the whole body of Scripture; for it includes all the feelings of which human nature is capable, and adapts itself to every condition and every attack. It carries within it a cry of help to God against every danger, humble and devout confession, watchfulness and continual fear.
