Applying Courage - Teaching Material
“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10) reminds us of the divine presence that holds us in moments of turmoil. The courage to be still is not merely the absence of action; it is a bold declaration of our trust in God’s sovereignty. It’s about placing our fears, anxieties, and burdens at His feet. Picture a family gathered around a table, each member carrying their unique struggles—maybe it’s a child battling with self-doubt, a spouse burdened by financial worries, or a parent grappling with past mistakes. In that sacred space, the call to be still is an invitation to share those burdens with one another and with God.
Forgiveness often feels like an uphill battle, doesn’t it? We may find ourselves clenching tightly to pain, thinking we’re protecting ourselves, but truly, we’re only holding onto chains. The act of letting go, much like choosing to be still, requires courage—a faith that believes God’s hands are stronger than our own. When we gather together in our community, we create an atmosphere where healing can happen.
As we apply courage in our lives, we can ask ourselves: Who do I need to forgive, and what do I need to surrender? It could be a wound that has lingered too long or a resentment that has taken root in our hearts. Let’s lean into this divine assurance that when we are still, we will know Him, and in knowing Him, we find the strength to forgive and be healed.
