Christ as the Nail: God's Immovable Manager of His House
Isaiah 22:24 presents Eliakim as a nail driven into a sure place, upon which hangs all the glory of his father's house—vessels large and small, representing every member of his family. Just as the ancients displayed their wealth by suspending gold and silver vessels, armor, and ancestral heirlooms upon spikes along their walls, so Eliakim's elevation becomes the support structure for his entire household.
But the text reaches beyond earthly stewardship. Christ is constituted the great Manager of His Father's house—the Church itself, which Elohim founded from eternity through infinite wisdom (Proverbs 9:1). He stands as the sole Proprietor, the everlasting Father of the family, the great Oracle and Counsellor, the high Priest, and the Lord-Treasurer in whom all fullness dwells (Colossians 1:19).
Christ's fixedness in this management cannot be overturned. An irreversible decree from heaven establishes His governance (Psalm 2:6-7). Yahweh Himself has sworn by His holiest perfection that His Son's authority shall endure—He would sooner cease to be holy than permit His Son's dominion to be overturned. This solemnity of covenant, oath, and actual possession of the throne (Philippians 2:9-11) makes Christ the immovable foundation upon which all God's people hang their hopes, their provisions, and their eternal security.
