Christianity: God's Eternal Rest and Final Word
Psalms 129:14 declares, "This is my rest for ever." The Christian church stands as God's permanent dwelling place—His menucha (rest) that shall never be superseded. After Christianity's establishment, no further dispensation of Divine will shall follow. The Almighty's communication to mankind reaches its consummation and completion in Christ; nothing greater, nothing superior remains to be imparted on this side of eternity.
Even in heaven's eternal duration, we shall be perpetually occupied in contemplating and adoring the inexhaustible riches of that grace. The brightest glories of Almighty's mercy have been fully realized in three momentous acts: the consummations of Calvary, where redemption was secured; the ascension of the Messiah, where our advocate entered glory; and the breaking down of all national peculiarity through the gift and mission of the Divine Spirit, making God's grace accessible to every tribe and tongue.
The apostle Paul's argument in Hebrews 12:27 crystallizes this truth: Yahweh has "removed those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain." All temporary shadows and types have passed away. What endures is the substance—Christ Himself, the unshakeable foundation of God's eternal purpose. Christianity represents not one step in an endless progression, but the final, immovable establishment of Elohim's kingdom.
