Contemplating Gluttony
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I pause to reflect on the nature of Gluttony in my life today, I am drawn to the profound wisdom of Matthew 6:25-34. In these verses, You remind us not to be consumed by worry over our needs, but to place our trust in You, the Creator who cares for the lilies of the field and the birds of the air.
Help me to see gluttony not merely as a craving for excess, but as a deeper longing for fulfillment that often leads us astray. Just as a plant’s roots dig deep for nourishment, may I seek my sustenance in Your love and grace, rather than in the temporary pleasures of this world.
When I am tempted to indulge, remind me of the hunger that plagues so many around me—hunger for connection, for purpose, or simply for daily bread. May I be a beacon of hope and a vessel of healing, choosing to share rather than hoard, to give rather than consume. Empower me to embody Your agape love, that unconditional love that nurtures and uplifts, rather than one that merely satisfies fleeting desires.
