Contemplating Sloth
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I pause to reflect on the insidious nature of Sloth in my life, I turn to the profound words of Colossians 1:15-20, where we glimpse the true essence of your Son, the One who holds all creation together. In this passage, we see that Jesus is not only the image of the invisible God but also the very breath of purpose and action in our world. Yet, I ponder how easily I can fall into the lethargy of Sloth, allowing moments meant for vibrant engagement slip through my fingers like sand.
Lord, help me to see this area of my life through your eyes. Show me the stillness that has settled in my heart, a stillness that often masquerades as self-care but can sometimes be a barrier to the calling you have placed on my life. Remind me of those seemingly small moments—when I choose the couch over conversation, the easy way over the challenging path, or rest over responsibility.
Guide me to be a light in the darkness, to embrace action that reflects your character. Let my hands become instruments of hope and healing, whether in my family, where a simple act of kindness can reignite love, or in my community, where a compassionate word can uplift a weary soul. May my actions not only draw me closer to you but also invite others into your undeniable grace.
