Divine Justice Recognizes Wrongs Against All People
He that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done (Philippians 4:25).
I. Punishment Threatened.
To Masters: Imperious masters wrong their servants by defrauding them of clothing, food, or wages; by imposing labours beyond their strength; by afflicting them with reproaches and unjust stripes. For these wrongs, servants are not to rise in anger or abandon their tasks through idleness—God will see due punishment done as He did to the Egyptian oppressors (Exodus 5).
To Servants: Contumacious servants wrong their masters by withholding due obedience and reverence; deceitful and slothful servants do not yield true submission. These shall be punished for their dishonesty by God the Avenger and Judge (2 Kings 5).
