Evening Prayer: Climate Change & Stewardship
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I pause in this sacred evening moment, I reflect on the pressing call to stewardship that echoes through your Word, particularly in Isaiah 58:6-7. You remind us that true fasting, true devotion, is not merely in rituals or words, but in a radical love that compels us to act. When we alleviate the burdens of the oppressed, when we share our bread with the hungry—this is where we find you.
Lord, grant me the vision to see the world as you do. Let me not turn away from the signs of climate change that threaten our very existence. Help me to notice the parched earth beneath my feet, the trees that once stood tall and proud now wilting under the weight of neglect. May I feel the heartbeat of our planet, yearning for healing and restoration.
I am called to be a beacon of hope in this darkness, a light shining in the midst of despair. Teach me to reduce waste, to nurture creation, and to advocate for those whose voices are drowned out by the clamor of progress. When I recycle a plastic bottle, may I remember that it represents a choice to honor the gift of your creation. When I plant a seed, may I envision the lush harvest that will one day provide for others.
