Evening Prayer: Climate Change & Stewardship - Story
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I pause to reflect on the pressing issue of climate change, I find myself drawn to the reassuring promise you gave us in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you.” In this moment, I invite your wisdom to permeate my thoughts, prompting me to see the world through your eyes—a world aching for care and restoration.
Imagine, for a moment, a beautiful garden once vibrant and full of life, now withering under the weight of neglect. Can we not see the parallels in our own lives and the earth we inhabit? Each day, we are given the opportunity to cultivate this garden, not just for ourselves but for future generations. Your creation is a testament to your hesed—your steadfast love—and we are called to embody that love through our stewardship.
Lord, guide me to be a beacon of hope in the darkness of despair. When I encounter litter-strewn streets or hear the weighty reports of environmental degradation, may I respond not with apathy, but with the compassion you have shown me. Let my heart be moved to action—whether that means planting a tree, advocating for clean energy, or joining hands with my community to foster awareness and change.
