Evening Prayer: Economic Inequality & Generosity
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I pause in this sacred moment, I find myself drawn to the powerful words of Matthew 25:31-46, where You reveal the heart of Your Kingdom. Here, we see the Son of Man seated on His glorious throne, separating the sheep from the goats, not by their wealth or status, but by their actions toward the least of these. Lord, remind me that every act of kindness, every moment of generosity, is a reflection of Your love in action.
Imagine a single mother, weary yet determined, who scrapes together just enough to put food on the table for her children. She may not have much, but when she sees her neighbor struggling to keep the lights on, her heart pulls her to share what little she has. This is the essence of Your call—compassion in the face of scarcity, generosity that defies our circumstances.
Help me to step into the shoes of those around me. Let me see the hungry, the cold, the lost, and the marginalized not as statistics, but as beloved creations of Yours, each with a story and a need. May I be a light in their darkness, offering not just resources but the very hope of Christ.
