Evening Prayer: Economic Justice and the Kingdom - Biblical Insight

Dear God of Love and Justice,

As I kneel in prayer this evening, I am struck by the profound truth of Romans 8:19-22, which whispers to my heart about the groaning of creation, longing for redemption. Lord, teach me to see the world through Your eyes—eyes filled with compassion for the marginalized and a fierce desire for justice.

I think of the single mother in our community, working two jobs, her hands worn and calloused, yet still unable to make ends meet. Her children dream of a better life, but the weight of economic disparity hangs heavy on their small shoulders. In this moment, I ask You to guide me—to be a beacon of hope in her darkness, reflecting Your unwavering love. What would it look like for me to step into her struggle, to advocate for systemic change, and to partner with others in our church to create a community where all can thrive?

Help me, Lord, to embody Your character of hesed—the steadfast love that acts, that moves beyond mere sentiment into transformative action. As I navigate my own economic decisions, may I do so with the heart of a servant, recognizing the divine image woven into every person I encounter.
