Evening Prayer: Environmental Justice
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I stand before you this evening, a deep sense of your creation weighs on my heart. I think of 1 Thessalonians 5:11, where we are called to "encourage one another and build each other up." In this moment, I feel the urgency of your call to engage with the world around me—a world marked not only by beauty but by the scars of environmental injustice.
Picture a child playing in a park on a sunny day, laughter filling the air. Now imagine that same park, once vibrant, now choked with pollution and neglect. How often do we pass by, our hearts heavy with awareness but our feet rooted in complacency? Lord, open my eyes to see the beauty and brokenness in creation. Let me feel the pulse of your world, aching for redemption.
Help me to be a beacon of hope in this landscape. May my actions reflect your character—my hands willing to pick up the trash that tarnishes your creation, my voice raised in advocacy for those who cannot speak for themselves. When I advocate for clean air and water, I’m not just fighting for the environment; I’m embracing the very essence of your shalom (peace), where every creature, every person, thrives.
