Evening Prayer: Self-Deception
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I pause this evening to reflect on the subtle yet dangerous nature of Self-Deception, I find myself drawn to the powerful words of Colossians 1:15-20. This passage speaks of Christ as the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, and through Him all things were created. The wisdom contained in these verses invites me to confront the places in my heart where I have allowed false narratives to take root, where I have confused my own desires with your divine truth.
Lord, I ask that you grant me the clarity to see these areas of deception with your eyes. Help me to recognize the moments when I convince myself that I am fine when I am not, when I tell myself that I have it all together, while in reality, I am wrestling with fear, pride, or resentment. Just as you revealed yourself to be the source of all hope and healing, may I embody that light in the shadows of Self-Deception, not just for myself but for those around me.
Create in me a heart that reflects your character—a reflection so clear that it draws others closer to your love. In my interactions, may I offer grace, patience, and understanding, illuminating the truth in a world that often thrives on half-truths and self-justifications.
