God's Circle: Earth's Shape and Sovereignty

"It is He that sitteth upon the circle of the earth." — Isaiah 40:22

Centuries before modern science confirmed the earth's spherical shape, Isaiah declared this truth under divine inspiration. The circle stands as geometry's most perfect figure, and God selected it as His design for creation itself. The stars orbit in circles; the moon traces a circle; the sun blazes in circular form; and the entire universe revolves around God's throne at the centre.

This circular pattern governs history. The potteries of Burslem, England reproduce vessels exhumed from Pompeii—not regression, but civilization swinging in a great arc, returning to ancient patterns after completing its circuit. What appears as novelty often proves cyclical.

More profoundly, God's moral government operates as Ezekiel's wheel—divine providence turning perpetually. Actions, whether base or noble, traverse their arc through years or centuries before returning to their originator. Jezebel murdered Naboth for his vineyard; Elijah marked the circle from dogs feasting on Naboth's corpse to those same dogs consuming Jezebel's body. The murderess completed her appointed circuit.

Nations cycle similarly. A theocracy yields to monarchy; monarchy becomes limited; limited monarchy gives way to republican forms. Each system exhausts itself, and the wheel turns onward. Yet throughout these revolutions, God remains enthroned upon the circle, unmoved and sovereign, orchestrating all history toward His purposes.
