Great Call & Fall of Abram: Peter as the Snake
Brothers and sisters, this failure story of one of the heroes of the faith reminds me of another hero of the faith—a New Testament hero, the Apostle Peter.
Remember that story where Jesus asks His disciples, "Who do you say that I am?" And Peter makes his great confession of faith: "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."
And this Messiah is the one who will crush the head of the serpent, remember? But we also remember that other part of the prophecy—the serpent will strike the heel of this Messiah, dealing a death blow to Him. Which was all part of God's master rescue plan.
The glory will come through suffering. Victory will come through death. But that part of the plan Peter didn't like—and neither do we.
