Greeting God's Mercy Before It Arrives
When God's providence announces an approaching mercy, we must not wait passively for deliverance to knock upon our door. Rather, we should echo back our thankfulness at the first intimation of His coming blessing. Consider the townspeople who hear their king is on the road toward them: they do not sit idle within their walls. Instead, they raise their bells to ring in celebration and line the streets in eager anticipation—they do not delay until he enters the gates. The birds demonstrate this same principle each dawn. They rise early in the morning, striking up their sweet notes in the air, saluting the rising sun with jubilant song long before its full light breaks across the horizon. Should we not do the same before our Almighty Elohim? When we discern the first whisper of His approaching mercy—when we sense His providential hand moving toward us—we ought to strike up our harps in praise. Do not wait for complete deliverance. Do not hold back your thanksgiving until every blessing has fully manifested. Begin your song at the first appearance of a mercy. This is the posture of a grateful heart: one that recognizes God's faithfulness before the mercy fully arrives, and welcomes it with bells ringing and harps resounding.
