Heavenly Wisdom as Protection from Seduction
That they may keep thee from the strange woman.—Heavenly wisdom operates as a protective force against wantonness through four distinct mechanisms. First, by way of excellency: wisdom itself surpasses the fairest woman in the world in beauty and worth. Second, through good counsel: wisdom advises for thy good, directing the heart toward righteousness. Third, by sweet and pleasant discourse—discourse far more pleasant to a pious heart than all the wanton songs in the world. Fourth, by arming thee against all objections: keep in with knowledge, and thou shalt be sure to keep out of harlots' paws.
The false woman is a stranger in multiple senses. She is a stranger regarding marriage—thou hast no right to her. She is a stranger in regard to carriage, for thou canst not look for any good respect from her. Most critically, the false woman is a flatterer. The difference between her words and her deeds proves it: she speaks like a friend and acts like an enemy. The difference between her first and her last words confirms it—she will surely turn against thee when thy money is spent, sinking thee with fair words.
The remedy is the cultivation of divine knowledge. Elohim offers wisdom as an active, protective force—not merely passive avoidance but active embrace of what is excellent and true.
