Lessons from Faith - Biblical Analogy
A young woman named Sarah stood at the edge of a vast, shimmering lake, the sun casting golden rays upon its surface. She was filled with uncertainty, wondering if she could ever learn to swim. As she watched families enjoying the water, laughter echoing around her, a longing welled up inside her—a desire to dive in, to embrace the joy that seemed just out of reach.
With trembling hands, she approached the water, recalling the words of her grandmother: “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to act despite it.” With that gentle nudge, she stepped into the shallows, feeling the cool water lapping at her ankles. It was there, in the safety of the shallow end, that she found a sense of peace—a moment where faith began to blossom.
In 2 Timothy 1:7, we are reminded that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Just as Sarah learned to trust the water, we are invited to trust in God’s presence. Each step she took deeper into the lake mirrored her spiritual journey; the more she leaned into that trust, the more she grew.
Friends, God doesn’t expect us to leap into the depths of life’s challenges alone. Instead, He calls us to wade in, to take one brave step at a time. As we cultivate our relationship with Him, we will find that faith is not just a feeling, but a practice—a daily decision to trust Him and grow in His love, diving deeper into the waters of grace.
