Lessons from Gentleness - Story

In a quiet garden not far from my home, I watched a young boy kneeling by a small patch of soil. His hands were caked with dirt as he carefully placed tiny seeds into the earth. His father, observing nearby, knelt beside him and whispered gentle words of encouragement, teaching him the rhythm of planting and nurturing. With each seed that dropped into the ground, I could see the boy's eyes light up with hope and wonder, as if he were entrusting each tiny speck of potential to the universe.

Weeks later, I returned to that garden. The boy was now standing proudly beside his father, admiring the fragile green shoots that had begun to push through the soil. Each sprout was a testament to their labor, a symbol of patience and care. The boy, filled with awe, said, “Look, Dad! They’re growing!” His father replied, “Yes, son, but remember, it’s not just about what you see above the ground. It’s about the roots that are forming below.”

This tender moment reflects our spiritual journey. Just as the seeds need gentle care to sprout, so too do we require gentleness in our hearts to nurture the fruits of the Spirit. In John 3:16, we are reminded of God’s immense love—agape—which gently invites us to grow in grace. Each act of gentleness we offer and receive fosters our spiritual growth, guiding us toward the purpose God has laid before us. Let us lean into that gentleness, trusting that, like those seeds, we too are becoming something beautiful in His hands.
