Lessons from Goodness - Story
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, I found myself walking through my neighborhood. I passed by a small park, where a grandmother sat on a bench, her eyes scanning the playground. There, her grandchildren ran wild—a whirlwind of laughter and joy. But I noticed something deeper as I watched: the way she leaned forward, her hands clasped together, eyes glistening with love and pride, waiting for them to return to her.
As I approached, she began to tell me about how she had raised her children, weaving in tales of struggle, heartbreak, and triumph. Through every season, she held onto her faith, trusting that God was guiding her every step. “The Lord is my Shepherd,” she said, quoting Psalm 23. “He led me through the valleys, and I have learned that His goodness and mercy are always following me."
Her voice softened as she spoke of the challenges that came like storms—loss, disappointment, and self-doubt—but also how she found strength in prayer and community. Each trial shaped her, deepening her roots in faith and allowing her to pass that legacy of perseverance to her grandchildren. “Goodness,” she said with conviction, “isn’t just a feeling; it’s a promise. It’s what keeps us moving forward, trusting that every step, every fall, brings us closer to His purpose.”
I left that park inspired. The goodness we seek isn’t merely for ourselves; it’s meant to be shared, like that grandmother’s love. It guides us, nurtures us, and ultimately helps us grow into who we are meant to be. In our faith journey, let us lean into that goodness, trusting that God is always leading us toward brighter days.
