Lessons from Hope - Story
A few months ago, I visited a small community garden in our neighborhood. It was a humble plot of land, filled with a vibrant mix of vegetables and flowers, tended by people from all walks of life. As I watched the gardeners gently pull weeds and water their plants, an elderly woman named Maria caught my attention. She was kneeling beside a small tomato plant that had been struggling to grow.
I approached her, curious about her work. With a tender smile, she said, “This little plant has faced many storms, but I believe it can still bear fruit. You see, it’s not just about what’s above the soil; it’s what’s happening underneath that matters.”
Maria shared that when she first planted the seed, she didn’t see any growth for weeks. Yet, she continued to water it, even when hope seemed lost. She believed that every drop of water and every moment of care was a step towards transformation.
As I listened, I remembered Galatians 5:22-23, which speaks of the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience. Just like Maria nurturing that tomato plant, we too are called to cultivate these virtues within ourselves and our community.
