Lessons from Patience - Story
In a small village, there lived a woman named Miriam who yearned for a garden filled with the most vibrant flowers. She dreamed of a place where the colors danced under the sun, where butterflies flitted joyfully from bloom to bloom. But as she began to plant her seeds, she quickly grew frustrated. The soil was hard, and the seeds seemed stubbornly resistant to sprouting. Day after day, she watered and tended, but nothing emerged.
One afternoon, a wise old man noticed her struggle and sat beside her. “Do you know what it takes for those flowers to bloom?” he asked gently. Miriam sighed, “Patience, I suppose. But it's so hard to wait.”
He smiled wider, “Patience is but one part; trust is essential. Each seed carries within it a promise of life, but it must first break apart in the darkness of the soil.” His words echoed the truth found in 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Miriam began to pray, trusting that the unseen work was happening beneath the surface. Days turned into weeks, and just when her hope had almost faded, tiny green shoots began to break through the soil. Each sprout was a testament to her faith and patience.
