Lessons from Peace - Story
Margaret had always found solace in her garden. Each spring, she would kneel in the rich soil, planting seeds with the hope that they’d bloom into vibrant flowers. This year, however, life had thrown her a series of storms. The recent illness of her husband had shaken her to the core, leaving her feeling stranded in a sea of anxiety and uncertainty.
One afternoon, as she weeded among the budding tulips, she felt an urge to pause. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, letting the earthy scent fill her lungs. In that stillness, a familiar passage from Galatians echoed in her heart: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience…”
In that moment, Margaret experienced a divine reality—the shalom (peace) that transcended her understanding. It wasn’t the absence of her troubles but the presence of God in the midst of them. She realized that just as her flowers needed time to grow, so did her faith. God was at work, nurturing her spirit like the gardener she aspired to be.
With each passing day, as she watered her plants, Margaret began to cultivate patience within herself. She found blessing not just in the blooms that would come, but in the process itself—trusting God to bring her through this season.
