Lessons from Righteousness - Contemporary Example
A few months ago, I had the privilege of meeting a man named David at our local community center. David was a former addict who had spent years in the grips of addiction, feeling lost and hopeless. Yet, through a series of divine encounters, he found himself in a church that preached grace, mercy, and the transformative power of faith.
He shared with me how he often felt like the sheep in Psalm 23: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” David was once a sheep without a shepherd—wandering aimlessly, searching for fulfillment in all the wrong places. But God’s righteousness began to work in him, leading him beside still waters and restoring his soul.
What struck me most was his story of patience. David didn’t experience overnight transformation; rather, he spoke of each day as a step in a long journey. He learned to trust in God’s timing, even when he faltered, and it was through that patience that his faith grew stronger. He found purpose in helping others who were lost, becoming a shepherd to those still in the valley of despair.
As David spoke, I could see a glow of hope radiating from him—he was living proof of spiritual growth. His life was a testimony that righteousness is not merely a destination but a journey, one marked by God’s guiding hand. Just as the psalmist assures us, when we put our trust in Him, even in the darkest valleys, we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. David’s story reminds us that with faith, patience, and God’s righteousness, transformation is not just possible; it is a beautiful promise.
