Lessons from Righteousness - Contemporary Example
A few months ago, I had the privilege of sitting with a dear friend named Sarah, a single mother navigating life with two small children. She shared with me a time when her world felt utterly dark. Just a few weeks earlier, she had lost her job unexpectedly, and the bills were piling up. The weight of uncertainty pressed heavily on her heart, threatening to extinguish the light of hope.
One evening, while tucking her children into bed, she found herself overwhelmed with fear. How would she provide for them? In that moment of desperation, she knelt beside their beds, her hands clasped in prayer. “Lord, I trust You," she whispered, "but I need to see Your hand.”
The next morning, as she opened her front door to retrieve the mail, she found an envelope resting on her doorstep. It was from a neighbor she barely knew, someone who had been watching from a distance. Inside was a note that simply read, “I felt led to help. Here’s a little something for your family.” Along with the note was a gift card for groceries.
In that simple act, Sarah saw the righteousness of God at work. Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us that we are saved by grace through faith, not by our own efforts. In moments of darkness, when trust feels like a leap into the abyss, God illuminates our path, guiding us with His light. Sarah learned that even in her trials, she was never alone. Her faith became the very means through which God’s grace poured into her life, leading her to victory over despair.
