Lessons from Righteousness - Story
There’s a small, weathered church on the outskirts of town, a place where the sun sets low behind the hills, casting long shadows over its brick façade. One chilly evening, a mother named Clara pulled her son, Danny, close as they climbed the steps to that church, their breaths visible in the crisp air. Danny had been struggling; his grades had dropped, and he felt the weight of expectations pressing down on him. Clara, knowing the darkness that can cloud a young heart, whispered, “Trust in God’s plan, honey. He sees you.”
As they entered, they were enveloped by the warm glow of candlelight and the soft sound of voices singing hymns of hope. Clara led Danny to a pew, and as she did, she noticed an elderly man named Mr. Thompson at the front, his hands raised in worship, an embodiment of joy amidst life’s trials. She spotted him often; he’d lost his wife last year, yet here he was, a beacon of faith, radiating the light of Christ even in his grief.
After the service, Clara bent down to Danny. “Do you see Mr. Thompson? His faith shines brightly, even in the darkness. That’s the righteousness we receive through Christ—it's not just about being good; it’s about trusting in Him.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us that we are saved by grace through faith, not by our own works. As the evening faded, Clara and Danny left the church embracing a new understanding: to trust in God is to walk in His light, finding hope and purpose in every season of life.
