Light That Has Been Traveling Toward Us
In December 2021, NASA launched the James Webb Space Telescope after more than twenty years of delays, budget overruns, and near-cancellations. Engineers had spent decades folding an intricate gold mirror into a rocket, knowing that once launched, there would be no repair mission. Three hundred single points of failure, any one of which could end the project forever.
Every single one of them worked.
When Webb finally opened its eyes from a million miles away, it captured something breathtaking — infrared light from galaxies formed just a few hundred million years after the beginning of the universe. Light that had been traveling toward us for over thirteen billion years. Before our sun existed, before Earth was formed, that light was already on its way.
Hope works like that.
Long before you knew you needed it, God was already sending what would sustain you. The mercy you will need next Thursday is already in transit. The provision for a crisis you cannot yet imagine has already been launched. As the prophet Jeremiah heard the Lord declare, "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
You may feel like you are sitting in darkness, waiting. But light is not absent — it is arriving. It has been on its way longer than you can fathom, sent by a God who has never once miscalculated the timing.
