Light That Travels Through the Dark
In December 2021, NASA launched the James Webb Space Telescope into orbit nearly a million miles from Earth. When its golden mirrors finally unfolded and focused, astronomers saw something breathtaking — light from galaxies that formed over thirteen billion years ago, just a few hundred million years after the universe began.
Think about that. That light had been traveling through the cold vacuum of space for thirteen billion years. Through absolute darkness. Through the vast, silent emptiness between galaxies where nothing exists at all. And it never stopped. It never flickered out. It kept moving, wavelength by wavelength, until the day it finally reached a mirror designed to receive it.
Hope works like that.
When the prophet Habakkuk cried out to God in a season of violence and injustice, the Lord answered, "For the vision awaits an appointed time; it hastens to the end — it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come" (Habakkuk 2:3). God's promises are already in motion, already traveling toward you, even when you see nothing but darkness in every direction.
You may be in a season where the night feels endless and the silence feels absolute. But the light is not gone. It is in transit. Every promise the Almighty has spoken over your life is moving steadily, faithfully, relentlessly toward its appointed arrival.
No darkness in the universe has ever stopped light from reaching its destination. And no darkness in your life will stop God's promises from reaching you.
