Nature Illustration: Creation Care and Stewardship
The other day, I watched my young son kneel in our backyard, captivated by something small and seemingly insignificant—a tiny ant carrying a crumb many times its size. With furrowed brows, he muttered to himself, “How can it do that?” It struck me how often we overlook the complexity and beauty of creation around us.
In Job 38:1-7, God speaks to Job out of the whirlwind, asking him pointed questions about the foundations of the earth and the stars in the sky. “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand.” Every question reveals not just God’s majesty, but also the intricate care with which He designed the universe.
As I watched my son, it occurred to me that the ant, in its humble task, is part of a grand narrative—a narrative woven with purpose and intention by our Creator. Just as that little creature carries its burden, we too are called to carry the weight of stewardship in our own lives.
This moment reminded me that our spiritual growth often comes from observing the small details of life, understanding that every creature, every person, has a role in God’s kingdom. We may feel insignificant at times, yet we are each part of something much larger. In nurturing our connection with creation, we find guidance and purpose, trusting in a God who orchestrates it all with both awe and humility.
