Nature Illustration: Seasons of Growth and Rest
There is a small garden at the edge of my backyard, a patch of earth that tells a beautiful story each year. In early spring, it bursts forth with life — delicate buds unfurling, the earth awakening from its long slumber. You can almost hear creation sighing in relief, as if the world is saying, “At last, new life can begin!” But amidst this vibrant growth, I’ve learned to appreciate the quiet interludes — the fallow time when the leaves turn golden and the plants retreat.
This garden reminds me of Revelation 21:1-5, where we glimpse a new heaven and a new earth, a promise of restoration and peace. Just as the seasons cycle through growth and rest, so too do our spirits. There are times in our lives when we feel vibrant, filled with purpose, as if we are bursting forth like spring blossoms. Other times, we need to draw back, to pause, to let God work in the soil of our hearts.
It’s in these quiet periods that God often shapes us, preparing us for the next season of abundance. Each season holds its own beauty, its own purpose. The promise of God is that all things will be made new. So, whether you’re in a time of flourishing or resting, remember: both are essential for growth. In every moment, God is gently tending your soul, guiding you towards the hope of what’s to come.
