Nature Illustration: Trees Planted by Streams
There’s a grove of trees just beyond my backyard, each one standing tall and resolute. I often find myself drawn to them, especially in the early morning light when the dew glistens like diamonds on their leaves. These trees, deeply rooted in rich, loamy soil, are a picture of strength and resilience. They thrive because they are planted close to a stream that flows steadily, nourishing them with life-giving water.
As I watch them sway gently in the breeze, I am reminded of Revelation 21:1-5, where the vision of a new heaven and a new earth unfolds. It promises that God will wipe away every tear, making all things new. Like those trees, we are invited to grow strong and vibrant, even amidst the storms of life. Our roots, too, must find their nourishment in the flowing stream of God’s love and grace.
But here’s the beauty: just as the trees don’t shy away from the changing seasons, neither must we. In moments of doubt or despair, when we feel like the ground beneath us is shifting, we are called to remember our source of strength. Each challenge can be a chance to dig deeper into faith, fostering spiritual growth that prepares us for the newness God promises.
Let us lean into that stream. Let us be the trees planted by the waters, reaching towards the sky, confident that our purpose is found in the One who makes all things new.
