Nothing Impure or Unclean: Acts 10:1-48
At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment.
Cornelius—a Roman name. A centurion—commander of 100 soldiers. Italian Regiment—stationed in Caesarea, Rome's seat in Judea. A Gentile. An occupier.
He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.
But this centurion was different. Devout. God-fearing—a term for Gentiles who worshiped Israel's God without full conversion. Generous. Prayerful. A soldier seeking God.
