Over-the-Air

In 2019, Hurricane Dorian bore down on Florida, and Tesla owners discovered something remarkable. Overnight, while their cars sat parked in garages, Tesla pushed an over-the-air software update that unlocked additional battery range — miles that were always physically present in the hardware but had never been accessible. Owners woke up to the same vehicle they had parked the night before. Same frame. Same tires. Same VIN number. But the car could now go further than it ever had before.

No one took the engine apart. No one swapped components on a lift. The transformation happened invisibly, from the inside out, while the owners slept.

Paul writes to the Corinthians, "If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here." The mystery of spiritual transformation is that God does not scrap us and start over. He does not replace us with someone holier. He unlocks what was always meant to be there — courage that was dormant, compassion that was buried, purpose that was sitting unused like untapped battery capacity.

And so often, the deepest changes happen not in the dramatic moments but in the quiet ones. In prayer. In sleep. In surrender. You wake up one morning and realize you can go further in forgiveness, further in love, further in faith than you ever thought your frame could carry.
