Parasite: The Rich and the Poor (Proverbs 22:7)
The Kim family lives in a basement apartment that floods with sewage. The Park family lives on a hill in architectural splendor. When Ki-taek, the poor father, asks what the rich Mr. Park's plan is, he answers: "I never make plans. Because life never goes according to plan." Ki-taek realizes: "That's because you have money. Money is an iron." Money irons out the wrinkles of life. Proverbs observes: "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender." Parasite doesn't moralize—it observes. Both families are trapped by systems larger than themselves. The poor scheme to survive; the rich remain oblivious to their privilege. Neither escapes the flood.
