Partners in the Gospel: Philippians 1:1-11

Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all God's holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons.

Paul dipped his pen. He was in chains, but his heart was in Philippi.

Philippi—the Roman colony where he had been beaten and imprisoned. Where the earthquake had shaken the jail. Where the jailer had asked, "What must I do to be saved?" Where Lydia had opened her home and her heart.

Servants. Douloi. Slaves. He and Timothy claimed no higher title.
