Prayerful Envy - Story
Dear Heavenly Father,
As I sit in the quiet of my morning, I find myself wrestling with the shadow of envy. It creeps in so subtly, like the first light of dawn that slowly begins to illuminate the darkness. I think of Romans 8:28, which assures me that you work all things together for good. How often I forget that even in the midst of comparison and longing for what others have, you are weaving a beautiful tapestry with my life—threading together joy, struggle, and grace.
Lord, help me to regain my vision today. When envy tries to take root in my heart, may I instead see the unique gifts you have bestowed upon me. Like a gardener tending to flowers, may I cultivate gratitude for the blessings I often overlook. Help me to be a beacon of your light in the moments I encounter feelings of inadequacy, whether it’s at work, in relationships, or even while scrolling through social media, where envy can strike hardest.
In those moments, let my actions proclaim your character—fostering love and encouragement in others. If I find my heart aching for what someone else possesses, let me respond with a heart intent on serving, perhaps offering a kind word or a helping hand. When I am tempted to pull back, let my instinct be to reach out, to build community, and to celebrate the victories of those around me.
