Recalculating Route

Every driver knows the moment. You miss your exit, take a wrong turn, or find the road ahead closed by construction. The GPS screen flashes that single word: "Recalculating." What it never says is, "You're hopeless. Pull over. You'll never get there now."

Google Maps processes roughly one billion kilometers of driving directions every day. And built into every one of those calculations is an assumption so profound that most of us never notice it — the system always believes you can still reach your destination. It doesn't care how many wrong turns you've made. It doesn't keep a record of missed exits. It simply takes your current position, however far off course, and draws a new line toward where you need to be.

That is a portrait of the living hope we have in Christ. The Apostle Paul, who knew something about wrong turns, wrote that "in all things God works for the good of those who love Him" (Romans 8:28). Not in some things. Not only when we follow the original plan. In all things — including the detours, the dead ends, the stretches where we were driving in the opposite direction entirely.

God never looks at where you are and says, "Too far gone." He is always recalculating, always drawing a new route from exactly where you stand toward the life He has planned for you.

Your wrong turn is not your final destination. The Father is still guiding.
