Science Illustration: Stewardship of Scientific Influence
A few years ago, I had the privilege of visiting a local observatory. Standing under the vast expanse of the night sky, I felt an overwhelming sense of awe. The astronomer guiding us pointed to a cluster of stars and shared that light from those stars had traveled for millions of years before reaching our eyes. In that moment, I was struck not just by the beauty of the universe, but by the profound truth found in Romans 1:20. Paul reminds us that God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, are clearly seen through what has been made.
As I gazed into the cosmos, I began to think about the stewardship of knowledge and influence we hold as both believers and seekers of truth. Each discovery we make in science and every insight we glean about our world can be a reflection of God’s glory, if approached with humility and reverence.
When we engage with science—whether in the classroom, the lab, or our own lives—we’re called to be wise stewards of that knowledge, using it not to elevate ourselves but to deepen our understanding of the Creator. Just as the stars reveal the majesty of God, our pursuit of knowledge should point others back to Him. This invites us to consider: How can we ensure our influence leads others toward spiritual growth and trust in His wisdom? Each step we take in our studies and our lives can illuminate the path to Him, reminding us that every facet of creation is a testament to His unfathomable grace.
