Shame OFF You!: Ken Shuman's Story
In a video teaching from Ken Shuman, one of the founders of the Faithwalking course (https://vimeo.com/220640105/a1e92f6a5b), he speaks about his own discovery with shame.
Shame, as Ken said in this video teaching, is a feeling of "less than." A feeling that wouldn't have happened if the person who was supposed to love, encourage, and protect him hadn't belittled and beaten him because of it.
That was a shameful thing that was done to Ken that impacted him far into the future. But when Ken did the hard work of seeing the connection between current triggers and past traumas, it allowed him to expose this area of shame in his life—the first step toward greater healing.
People of God, if you are someone who knows you have areas of shame in your life, I highly recommend doing the hard work of introspection and meditation: sitting down with God in prayer to help you uncover areas of shame. I also encourage you to find a good therapist, spiritual director, or life coach—someone that can help you uncover areas of shame.
