Show Don't Tell: Luke 18:15-17
The sun was beginning to dip low in the sky, casting golden rays through the olive trees surrounding the dusty path. A gentle hum of excitement filled the air as families gathered, eager to see the teacher who had stirred their hearts. Among them moved a mother, her arms cradling a squirming toddler, while another father held a delicate newborn wrapped snugly in a faded cloth. Their faces radiated hope, believing that this man, Jesus, might bless their children in a way that would change everything.
But just as they approached, a wall of stern disciples formed, their faces set in determination. “No! Not now!” one of them barked, his voice cutting through the tender atmosphere like a knife. The children giggled and squirmed in their parents' arms, sensing the tension, their innocence oblivious to the rebuke.
Yet in that moment, Jesus turned, His eyes piercing through the crowd, softening as He beheld the little ones. “Let the little children come to me,” He said, His voice warm and inviting, like a gentle breeze on a summer day. “Do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
The disciples fell silent, their hearts challenged by the weight of His words. Jesus knelt, arms wide open, and as the children rushed to Him, laughter bubbled up like a spring.
