Show Don't Tell: Luke 19:1-10
Instead of saying "Jesus saved Zacchaeus," climb the tree with him. Jesus enters Jericho and is passing through. A man is there by the name of Zacchaeus; he is a chief tax collector and is wealthy. He wants to see who Jesus is, but because he is short, he cannot see over the crowd. So he runs ahead and climbs a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus is coming that way. A wealthy man, running and climbing—undignified desperation. When Jesus reaches the spot, he looks up: "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today." He comes down at once and welcomes him gladly. All the people see this and mutter: "He has gone to be the guest of a sinner." But Zacchaeus stands up: "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount." Jesus: "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."
