Show Don't Tell: Luke 21:5-38
Instead of saying "Jesus prophesied the end times," watch the stones fall. Some are remarking about the temple—how it is adorned with beautiful stones and gifts dedicated to God. Jesus says: "As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down." "Teacher, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign?" Warning: many will come in his name, claiming to be him. Wars and uprisings—don't be frightened. Nation against nation, kingdom against kingdom. Great earthquakes, famines, pestilences, fearful events, great signs from heaven. But before all this, they will be arrested, persecuted, brought before kings and governors—for a testimony. "Make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. For I will give you words and wisdom." Betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives, friends—some put to death, hated by all because of his name. "But not a hair of your head will perish. Stand firm, and you will win life." When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, know that its desolation is near. "There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people." Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. Then signs in the sun, moon, stars. Nations in anguish, roaring seas. "At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory." When these things begin, stand up and lift your heads—redemption is drawing near.
