Show Don't Tell: Luke 7:11-17
Instead of saying "Jesus raised a widow's son from the dead," stop the funeral procession. Soon afterward, Jesus goes to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd go along with him. As he approaches the town gate, a dead person is being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she is a widow. A large crowd from the town is with her. When the Lord sees her, his heart goes out to her. "Don't cry." He goes up and touches the bier—those carrying it stand still. "Young man, I say to you, get up!" The dead man sits up and begins to talk, and Jesus gives him back to his mother. They are all filled with awe and praise God: "A great prophet has appeared among us. God has come to help his people." This news about Jesus spreads throughout Judea and the surrounding country. Two crowds meet at a town gate: one following Jesus, one following a coffin. Death retreats.
