Show Don't Tell: Mark 10:46-52
Instead of saying "Jesus healed blind Bartimaeus," hear the shouting over the crowd. They come to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples and a large crowd leave the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus), is sitting by the roadside begging. When he hears that it is Jesus of Nazareth, he begins to shout: "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Many rebuke him, tell him to be quiet. He shouts all the more: "Son of David, have mercy on me!" Jesus stops. "Call him." They call to the blind man: "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you." Throwing his cloak aside, he jumps to his feet and comes to Jesus. "What do you want me to do for you?" The same question he asked James and John. The blind man's answer is better: "Rabbi, I want to see." "Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he receives his sight—and follows Jesus along the road. The last healing in Mark before the cross. A blind beggar sees and follows while the disciples still stumble.
