Show Don't Tell: Matthew 11:25-30
Instead of saying "Jesus offers rest to the weary," hear the invitation after the judgment. After denouncing cities, Jesus prays aloud: "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children." The scholars miss it; the simple receive it. Then the staggering claim: "All things have been committed to me by my Father." All things. "No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him." Now the invitation: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Feel the exhaustion of religious performance, the weight of trying to be good enough. "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart." A yoke—not freedom from work but different work. "My yoke is easy and my burden is light." He carries most of the weight.
