Show Don't Tell: Matthew 13:24-30
In a quiet village, nestled between rolling hills and lush green valleys, there lived a farmer named Eli. Eli was known throughout the land for his ability to cultivate the richest wheat. One cool spring morning, with the sun casting a golden hue over the fields, Eli carefully sowed his good seed, envisioning a bountiful harvest that would feed his family and provide for the community.
But as night fell and the stars twinkled like diamonds in the sky, an insidious enemy crept into the field. With stealthy hands, he scattered seeds of darnel, a weed that would mimic the wheat until the harvest arrived. The next morning, as Eli surveyed his field, he could scarcely believe his eyes. He saw the delicate green shoots of wheat mingling with the sinister blades of weeds, indistinguishable at first glance.
His heart sank when his bewildered servants approached him, their brows furrowed with confusion. “Sir,” they implored, “Didn’t you sow good seed? Where did these weeds come from?” With a deep sigh, Eli replied, “An enemy did this.”
The servants, anger boiling within them, suggested mercilessly pulling the weeds out. “No,” Eli urged, his voice steady yet compassionate. “If you uproot the weeds now, you’ll risk tearing the wheat apart with them. Let both grow together until the harvest.”
